Foreword
Compos Mentis started as a whisper. The first breath barely stirred, but as it grew, it became impossible to ignore. The unlikely revolution started as one attempt, one tiny voice sounding through the cackle of Thieves and the bellow of Demons. It found life in the shadows of unlikely places, and rebelled against the Synthetic-World, a world that required its destruction at all cost and by any means. But it wasn’t destroyed. It defeated the Viremic-Armies and overthrew the Leper-Dynasties in a five hundred year campaign. It demolished the padded prisons that we were unaware we’d been embracing since the Bronze Age.
Through unimaginable sacrifice Compos Mentis rocketed across the planet and enabled us to find each other, to be as we once had been, in the time before the nightmare began. The Thieves and Demons had stolen the manna from our hands, but Compos Mentis exposed them and eventually ended the Reign of Lies, and the leaching of our spirit.
Once the breath was free, it rippled across the water and gathered the voice of others. It slowly grew. It was in this way that the courage of a few people began to resonate through humanity, sparking the end of our bondage. This is the story of the unlikely origin, the fragile inception of what the Thieves came to call Compos Mentis.
